New York, NY - New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was recognized by having a double-decker Gray Line sight-seeing bus. The All-Star net miner, who has accomplished a lot in his young career so far, has not yet led the New York Rangers to the Promised Land, of the NHL Playoffs and Lord Stanley’s Cup.

Lundqvist hopes to do just that as the start of the 2010 hockey season is just around the corner. New York is going to need more then the Swedish net minder if they hope to hoist Lord Stanley’s cup once again.

Remember that time when the Habs finished 1st in the Eastern Conference a few years back? Remember that time when the Habs were predicted to finish 1st in the Eastern Conference the following season?

Remember what happened instead?

Put down the gun.

Please.

That team was something else wasn’t it? We were supposed to be so damn good…but instead we were streaky, lacked heart, and were more boring that a NASCAR race in slow motion.

What is stopping the Leafs from ending their playoff drought? Is it the goaltending? No, the goalies are willing and able to carry the load of a playoff team. Ah! The defense! Well no it's our strongest position. So What about the forwards? We'll see.

The Leafs enter the 2010-11 season with a much improved forward corps.

After releasing an awful diary written by my good friend Ilya Kovalchuk, I decided to share another rather embarrassing note written by Kyle Wellwood.

Enjoy the following.

1. How often do you bathe?
After every practice and each sweat-induced burger feast.

2. How often do you think about bathing?
Every day, twice when thinking about burgers.

3. Do you brush your teeth?
I brush them with bacon sauce.

4. Do you clean your anus with a toothbrush?
Is that a serious question?

5. Did you just ask a quiz-note a question?
Yes. Answer me!

6. No!

There has been a lot of criticism of Craig Rivet’s play over this past season, and let’s be honest: most of it had merit. There has also been some recent unrest in his captaincy and leadership of the team. Should Rivet be the Captain? How has he done so far? And who could take his place? Let’s take a look.

Craig Rivet came to the Sabres in the summer of 2008 after Darcy Regier pulled a “just kidding” on the San Jose Sharks and got a mulligan on the Steve Bernier trade.

It’s the start of September 2010 and summer is over. Well, in Calgary, it never really began weather-wise, but that's neither here nor there.

For the Flames, it was time to give their “Hot House” members (people who are on the waiting list for Flames season tickets) an update on the team.

The Flames invited all of their HH members to a lunch with Ken King - the Flames President. He answered questions on the team for about an hour, as well as the potential for a new ‘Dome, the new TV contract, and the waiting list for season tickets amongst other things.

Just one season removed from their ultimate triumph in 2009 against their newly-crowned nemesis – the Detroit Red Wings – the Pittsburgh Penguins find themselves heading into the 2010-11 National Hockey League season refreshed and rejuvenated from an unusually long summer. Rather than playing in the Stanley Cup Final as their rabid fans had become accustomed to over the previous two seasons, Cinderella’s team of choice in the 2010 playoffs, the Montreal Canadiens, upset the heavily-favoured Penguins in a gruelling seven-game Eastern Conference Semi-Final series.

According to the Sporting News, Antti Niemi has signed a one-year deal with the San Jose Sharks worth $2M.

Antti Niemi, who recently helped the Chicago Blackhawks hoist the Stanley Cup and end the longest drought in NHL history, was awarded $2.75M by an arbitrator - a price tag deemed too steep for the cap shedding champions.

He'll join Antero Niittymaki in San Jose for the Sharks goaltending tandem heading into the 2010-11 season.

Last year, Niemi posted a 0.912 SV% with 7 shutouts.
