Yesterday, the Montreal Canadiens were blanked for the first time of the season 1-0 by the Calgary Flames at Bell Centre. Jarome Iginla scored the only goal on the night and Miika Kiprusoff made 25 easy saves to earn his 10th win of the season. Jaroslav Halak was good and made 30 saves in the loss.

The Canadiens have now scored only two-goals in regulation in their past three games. They site currently 11th in the Eastern Conference with only 16 points in 18 games. One point behind, the NY Islanders!

Jay Leach, a 6'4'', 200 lb, defenseman, played 24 games last season with the New Jersey Devils, notching one assist and recording 21 PIM.

The 30 year-old Leach was drafted in the 5th round (115th overall) of the 1998 NHL draft by the Phoenix Coyotes.

Leach plays a gritty and physical game, something lacking in Montreal with the injuries to towering defensemen Ryan O'Byrne and Hall Gill.

Leach will join the Canadiens in Montreal. He was playing in Lowell, the AHL affiliate of the Devils.

15 games into the 2009-10 season, the Montreal Canadiens currently sit 10th in the Eastern Conference with only 14 points. While the first line of Cammalleri-Gomez-Gionta is producing offensively almost every game, Tomas Plekanec is still waiting for quality wingers to pass the puck to.

Currently playing with grinders Maxim Lapierre and Guillaume Latendresse, TurtlePlek has already 14 points (4 goals and 10 assists) in 15 games. He has been the Habs' most consistent forward despite playing with almost every forward on the team, save for Gomez.

The Montreal Canadiens have lost again on the road; this time 3-2 against the Chicago BlackHawks. A better effort than Wednesday, a 6-1 loss against the Stanley Cup Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After a 2008-2009 season, during which his offensive production (20 goals and 19 assists for 39 points in 80 games) was mediocre at best, Tomas Plekanec has found a renewed passion and his old offensive flair this season.

After 11 games, he already has recorded two goals and eight assists for ten points, despite playing with several different wingers: Andrei Kostitsyn, Matt D'Agostini, Max Pacioretty, Guillaume Latendresse, Maxim Lapierre, etc.
