Hawks look to tie up series in LA
After a disappointing Game 3, the Hawks will look to even up the series Monday night against the Los Angeles Kings in enemy territory. The Kings have 2-1 lead of the series, and could go back to Chicago with a commanding 3-1 lead and a chance to close out the Hawks.
The Hawks have been in this situation before- in series against both Boston and Detroit last year, the Hawks found themselves behind and on the road. But this game is imperative for the Hawks so that they can seize back home ice advantage in the series. The previously stellar penalty kill for the Hawks has been awful, allowing three goals on nine opportunities, and the power play has been stymied since Game 1. The Hawks have been outscored 10-4 in the last five periods of play, and while Chicago has looked dominant at times during the series, they have failed to put together a 60 minute effort, and it’s hurting them late in the games.
The Kings are on fire right now, and the biggest threat is their newly rejuvenated second line of Jeff Carter, Tyler Toffoli, and Tanner Pearson, dubbed ‘That 70’s line’ because all three players wear numbers in the 70’s. The line was responsible for two goals in the last game, and the Hawks need to find an answer if they hope to tie the series up,
Who’s Hot: For the Hawks, there’s nobody hotter than Jonathan Toews right now, who scored twice in Game 3...The King’s line of Carter (5 G), Toffoli (3 G), and Pearson (4 A) has been electric, with a total of 12 points between the three players in just three games against the Hawks.
Injury Report: The Hawks are completely healthy....the Kings will be without defensemen Robyn Regehr (knee).
