Game 44 : Habs vs Pens
Oh the joy. Habs get a bit of luck in January as this will mark the second game in two weeks against the Penguins without Crosby in the lineup. It's pretty clear to see, that this team is not the same team without their superstar captain. Will we be able to take advantage of a struggling Pens squad? We'll find out tonight.
Last night's game in New York was nowhere near entertaining to watch, but the Habs pulled off a great road win that reminded me of last year's playoffs. We had solid goaltending and we played the right rolls at the right time. Hats off to J-Mart for a job well done.
Can the Habs go 5 in a row tonight? I think we have a chance. We will be the tired team tonight, but Carey Price should be well rested, and should be ready to hold the fort if the Habs are heavy on their heels. With the Pens having some trouble winning games without Crosby, the Habs need to take advantage of the situation quickly. As much as I like come from behind victories, I much prefer to win it in the first period. Let's put some doubt in their mind early.
Mathieu Darche is player of the week as far as I'm concerned. Followed closely by both out goalies (after Auld's play in NY). On the Pens we need to watch out for Kris Letang, who's got 5 points in his last 5 games, and was recently selected for the All Star game this year.
Injuries are as normal, Markov, Gorges, and possibly still Mike Cammalleri. Pens are without Superstar Sidney Crosby, Godard, and Mike Comrie. Arron Asham will be a game time decision. He missed a game earlier this week due to the flu.
Allstar goalie showdown tonight in Montreal baby! M-A Fleury should get the green light, as well as Carey Price. Very important game for the Habs. With the Hurricanes riding strong and closing the gap for 8th place, these 2 points are a must. Will be a tough one, but I can see the Habs pulling this out off. Would also make it easier to forget the crap month we had in Decemeber.
Puck Drop is at 7:30 and is being aired on RDS and TSN.
