Game Day : Habs vs Leafs

Classic one tonight guys. The Toronto Maple Leafs (26-27-7) head into town to face our beloved Canadiens. (32-22-7)
I'm expecting a fast paced game. The Leafs have no room for error. They're going to come out strong. This is probably the most anticipated Leafs/Habs game this season for me. I have two Leafs fan friends headed to the game, and as much as I cherish the friendship with them, I hope they walk out of there feeling like they wasted their money. Also, the Leafs seem to think they can do the impossible and make a run for the playoffs. So beating them tonight will add a little extra some somethin' on top of a much needed two points for us.

Moving on, the Habs did the impossible themselves earlier this week and defeated the league leading Vancouver Canucks. It wasn't the most impressive win ( minus the first period ) but a win nonetheless. Two very important points in a tight race to the post-season.

The Leafs have some hot hands. Yes, it's true, they are playing some impressive hockey lately. Clarke Macarthur shut up the haters early this season and has kept up the pace. Former Hab, Mik Grabo, has also turned the heat up this season. He hit 20 goals a few weeks back, and hasn't slowed down. James Reimer is also a force in nets for the Leafs. In the past 2 weeks, he's got 3 wins, 1.45 GAA and a .950Sv%. As a leaf fan would say, " Oh, Reimer. Yeah, he's the real deal."

The Habs have some heat themselves. Despite losing 6 of their last 9, Max Pac, Gionta, DD, and Pouliot have all contributed points in almost all of these games. Goalie, Carey Price hasn't faired as well as he has earlier in the season, but as per usual, I will never point a finger at him.

This marks the 5th time the two teams meet this season. Splitting the series 2-2. Last time we played, was at the Bell Center February 12th, when the Habs shut out the Leafs 3-0. I'd love to see a repeat tonight.

Reimer and Price should get the green lights. Habs are without the usuals, while Toronto is missing Colton Orr. Leafs are also without their other two goalies. Giggy is out with his silk groin issues, and Gusty is having issues elevating his game to the NHL level. No problems elevating other things for him though.

Game starts at 7:30pm and is being aired on RDS and TSN-HDHABS.

Dammit, Auld is in nets.

Brent Sopel and Nigel Dawes are going to own the Leafs bro.

I don't think we have another 3-0 Habs shutout on our hands... going to be much closer tonight.
