Scott Hartnell Named As Member Of NHLPA Negotiating Committee

According to a report from Michael Russo of the Star Tribune, Flyers forward Scott Hartnell has been named as a member of the 31-player NHLPA negotiating committee.

Negotiations between the Players' Association and the NHL over a new collective bargaining agreement will begin on Friday. The current agreement is set to expire on September 15th.

Hartnell and committee members will be closely involved in that process, and various members will attend bargaining sessions and be responsible for corresponding with other members not in attendance.

NHLPA Executive Director Donald Fehr expressed his pleasure over the involvement of the committee members.

It's great to see that so many players have chosen to participate in bargaining and get involved in the important work ahead for their Association. I'm certain this group of players and all players who will be attending bargaining sessions will do a great job.

Hartnell is currently the only representative from the Flyers on the negotiating committee. Other members of the committee include Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan, Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber, and St. Louis Blues captain David Backes.
