Harper's Hat Trick Nails Wheeling

The Trenton Titans finished up the home portion of their schedule with a 7-2 dismantling of the Wheeling Nailers.

Shane Harper had his second consecutive hat trick and Jacob Cepis added six points of his own. Flyers prospect, Blake Kessel had three assists as well. Scott Wedgewood stopped 33 of 35 shots in the win.

On a more interesting note, Wheeling started goaltender Peter Delmas despite Delmas having flu-like symptoms. Delmas was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals on 33 shots.

A few minutes after being replaced, Delmas had to rush back to the locker room after throwing up on the bench area. He spent the third period sitting in the Zamboni tunnel, with his own private bucket.

Scott Darling replaced him and didn’t fare much better as he stopped 12 of 15 shots in mop up duty.

Shane Harper spoke of his second hat trick in a row.

“They're just going in for me right now. I scored the third one, and I was just like, 'Come on!' It's pretty amazing,” the forward said.

The Titans finish up with four games on the road and will miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
