In a controversial move, the Toronto Maple Leafs have invited the OHL-banished Michael Liambas to their rookie tournament. For those who do not remember who Liambas is, he was the over-ager who received a one-year suspension from the OHL, effectively terminating his CHL career, after his illegal hit on Kitchener Rangers' defenceman Ben Fanelli.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Clarke MacArthur to a one-year deal worth $1.1M. Yesterday, after the trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning, I said the Leafs would have had a signing or trade in mind, as well as a camp invite for former Maple Leaf Darcy Tucker.

Today, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced they have acquired defenceman Matt Lashoff of the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Alex Berry and Stefano Giliati. Lashoff, a former first round pick who never transitioned his game to the NHL level, is a depth player who will start the year with the Toronto Marlies.

The reason for this two for one trade is pure planning on behalf of Brian Burke. It's clear there is either a trade or a signing on the horizon for the Maple Leafs, or perhaps even the rumoured invite for Darcy Tucker at this year's training camp.

Today's discussion on the CFB Panel is the Leafs decision not to trade Tomas Kaberle with insight from Micheal Aldred, Adam Reid, and Commercial Guy.

The Toronto Maple Leafs made a splash today, signing forward Colby Armstrong to a three-year contract worth 9M. Armstrong played 79 games last year scoring 15 goals and 29 points with 61 penalty minutes. The Leafs add more grit and physical presence to their lineup with this signing.

Just looking at the information floating around. Mapleleafs twitter releases rumour of "Bozak, Kulemin and Kaberle for 1st overall and high salaried player." That, in itself, is crazy. But I would have called the Phaneuf trade insane if someone had suggested it prior to it happening.

Speculation circulates a possible deal between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Columbus Blue Jackets that would see Leafs defenseman Tomas Kaberle make his way to Columbus in return for the Blue Jackets fourth overall pick.

TSN has reported that the Maple Leafs and goaltender Jonas Gustavsson have agreed to a new two year contract extension. The contract will reportedly average out to $1.35M per season.
