The Chicago Blackhawks have made the first step in fixing their cap issues by trading Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager, Brent Sopel and a prospect to the Atlanta Thrashers for a 1st-round pick, a 2nd-round pick, prospect Jeremy Morin and Marty Reasoner.
Not a fan of this at all since Byfuglien was arguably their most valuable player in the playoffs.
Interestingly, every team I picked to win their series lost their opening game last night, including the San Jose Sharks.
I'm not sure why I would even bet on the Sharks to win any playoff series at this point. They played flat and uninspired; typical of their recent playoff performances. Joe Thornton was once again nowhere to be found on the scoresheet when it mattered.
In the past 24 hours, everyone has been talking about the Ovechkin hit on Brian Campbell, and whether or not he should be suspended for what many have called a reckless play.

No big deal, right? It was, after all, only a regular season game and the Western Conference's best team still posts an impressive 7-1-2 record in their last 10 games.
Here's the issue: The Sharks are now 0-3 this year against the injury-depleted Red Wings.
