Blackhawks scratch a point out of the Devils in the shootout

Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford spoke of New Jersey goalie Marty Brodeur before the game. The future-HHOF goalie had been one of Crawford's idols when he was growing up in Montréal; the idea of one day growing up and playing against him was a seemingly impossible thing. But here he was, ready to take the ice vs. Brodeur.

Brodeur was drafted in 1990. He got his first call ups to the NHL during the 1991-92 season. To compare how long he's been in the NHL, Blackhawks rookie Andrew Shaw was born in July 1991. He owns just about every goalie record in the NHL, and #30 will be retired in New Jersey the second he decides he's done playing. But until that day comes, he...

Blackhawks Head to the Garden State to Battle Devils

The Chicago Blackhawks recent stretch of outstanding play came to a screeching halt on Sunday evening when they were pummeled by the Nashville a score of 6-1. The Blackhawks now look to move past the embarrassment and hope to rebound tonight against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center.

These two teams haven't played one another since November 2010, when the Devils skated away with a 5-3 win at the United Center. Chicago looks to avenge that loss and will have to find away to contain not only star sniper Ilya Kovalchuk, but also his American cohort, team captain Zach Parise.

Despite the recent loss to the Nashville Predators, th...

Blackhawks stumble to Predators 6-1

In an important game that could determine teams playoff positioning the Blackhawks just did not have anything going for them. Still missing captain Toews and Montador and Kruger still out themselves with upper body injuries and Duncan Keith out serving his suspension you knew it would be a tall order for the Hawks to overcome Nashville. The Predators have had the Hawks number all year and now lead the series 4-0-1 with only one game remaining in Nashville. The Hawks have not been able to solve Pekka Rinne all year.

The game not only was a four point swing it enabled Nashville to jump ahead of Detroit as well in the 4th spot in the Western Conference standings. The only consolation f...

Central showdown in Chicago tonight

Going into tonight's game, the Blackhawks are just 1-4 against the Nashville Predators, and they'll still have one more game to play against these division rivals at the end of the week. The Hawks are also down one of their best defensemen, as Duncan Keith sits out the first of five games in his suspension after a high hit against Daniel Sedin in last Wednesday's game vs the Canucks. Team captain Jonathan Toews is closer to returning but still also watching from the sidelines, as are defensemen Steve Montador and Sami Lepistö, and forward Marcus Krüger.

Nashville won 3-1 over the Winnipeg Jets in their own building last night; but they're just 2-3-1 over their...

Shaw Continues to Come Up Big for Hawks

It appears as though the Chicago Blackhawks are peaking at just the right time.

Chicago's 2-1 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks on Andrew Shaw's game-winning goal tonight marked their fifth win in a row, improving their record to 8-1-1 in their last ten games.

With the victory, the Blackhawks are now tied in points with Nashville for fifth place in the Western Conference playoff race, though the Predators have one more "Regulation Plus Overtime Wins" as the tie-breaker. However, the Blackhawks are currently only one point behind Detroit, but they would need two points on Sunday against Nashville and a Red Wings loss on Saturday to claim fourth place.&nb...

The rivalry continues as Hawks face Canucks @ UC

In what should be a good precursor to the playoff, there is no better way to get the blood amped up and boiling than to face your enemy. The Vancouver Canucks will be rested and ready for the Hawks. They will probably be in ornery mood as well coming off of a defeat at the hands of the Wild in Minnesota. The Canucks come into this game with no worries of making the playoffs. They are second in the Western Conference behind the Blues with 94 points and ten games left on their schedule. The Colorado Avalanche are behind them in the division but are significantly behind and only have seven games left to play. The Hawks will need to bring their best against Vancouver. They have recently found...

Blackhawks sweep season series vs Blue Jackets

The Blackhawks rolled into Columbus holding a 5-0-0 series lead over the Blue Jackets, and left by making it a perfect sweep for the season.

Brandon Bollig and Jared Boll dropped the gloves early to warm things up for the teams; Bollig got the better of Boll and both went to the box with five-for-fighting majors.

Andrew Shaw opened up the scoring not long after that, at the 4:12 mark in the first. Duncan Keith would get his first of four assists for the night. The Blackhawks put a goal past Steve Mason exactly 2:05 later, twice in a row - first Patrick Sharp and then Brent Seabrook, to close out the first 3-0.

After stopping the bleeding for most of the mi...

Blackhawks Look for Fourth Straight Win Against Blue Jackets

After winning three games in a row led by strong goaltending by netminder Corey Crawford, the Chicago Blackhawks look to capture their fourth straight victory when they travel to Columbus and attempt to maintain their dominance over a lowly Blue Jackets team.

This will be the Chicago Blackhawks' sixth meeting with the Blue Jackets this season, with Chicago capturing the first five games and outscoring Columbus 26-9.

Viktor Stalberg has been an absolute menace against the Blue Jackets, scoring 8 goals and one assist for 9 points and is a plus-10 over the five games. Jonathan Toews, Dave Bolland, Marian Hossa and Brent Seabrook all have at least five points a pie...

Shaw, Bickell Lift Hawks Over Caps

The Chicago Blackhawks did just about everything necessary tonight to pad their sixth place playoff spot lead with another two points, while narrowing the gap between themselves and their division rivals, the Nashville Predators, who sit just two points ahead in the Western Conference race.

The Blackhawks played a consistent and focused hockey game en route to their 5-2 win over the struggling Washington Capitals, who have Buffalo and Winnipeg right on their heals for possession of the eighth and final eastern conference playoff spot.

Rookie Andrew Shaw scored twice, Viktor Stalberg scored his 18th goal of the season, and Patrick Kane potted his 19th goal of the ye...

Blackhawks continue to tune up for playoffs against Capitals

In their only meeting of the regular season this year the Blackhawks will take on the Washington Capitals. The Capitals have not had the kind of year that is normal for them and have struggled along with their superstar Alex Ovechkin.  Ovechkin still is leading him team in points with 53 29 goals and 24 assists.

The Capitals (36-29-6) are currently hanging onto eighth place in the east with the Winnipeg Jets breathing down their necks in the ninth spot only just two points behind.  The Capitals also are coming off of a 3-2 loss to the Jets. So the Capitals come into this game desperately wanting to win and collect points to stay ahead in last playoff spot.
